  1. Will it be ok to substitute splenda white and brown sugar?

  2. Neither Sheila nor I cook with splenda so we cannot answer your question. I suspect that the product has directions for substitution proportions.

It would, I think, change the flavor of this recipe. Brown sugar does not taste like regular white sugar which is why you use both types. Not sure if adding molasses would help replace the flavor that would go missing, but then if you did that, you might as well use the brown sugar.

If anyone reading this recipe has an idea here, please post it in the comment. thanks!

  3. Splenda should sub just fine for white sugar. Splenda also makes a brown sugar substitute.

Here is an Apple Pie w/ JUST splenda, so I'm sure it would be fine.

  4. I have cooked and baked with Splenda for years. It has never seemed to change the taste...
Splenda measures just like sugar. (1 cup sugar is the same as 1 cup Splenda). I have also used Brown Sugar Splenda which is just as good. I make quite a few cheesecakes, cookies and pies during the Holidays with fantastic results and rave reviews....

  5. I find that if you use 1/2 sugars and 1/2 Splenda, white & brown, the taste is great. I find all Splena leaes an after taste

  6. I'm sorry, I'm confused: the recipe says the apples are peeled and cored. So, they are not sliced?? Yet I am wondering how I would "toss" whole apples with the spice mixture...

Very interested in trying this, but don't want to ruin it for a small misunderstanding. Thanks!

  7. I am assuming sliced, but I'll check with Sheila to make sure. Hold that thought!....
